Overview
A leading organization in the healthcare sector is seeking a Senior Managing Counsel specializing in Privacy & Cybersecurity for the Americas region. This role involves driving significant impact across key initiatives by partnering cross-functionally to deliver measurable outcomes. The position offers the opportunity to influence both strategy and execution within a high-growth environment.
Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $211,600 – $290,950 annually
Responsibilities
- Lead legal support for privacy and cybersecurity matters across the U.S. and Latin America regions
- Conduct data protection impact assessments involving sensitive health data
- Advise on incident response strategies related to data breaches and cybersecurity threats
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations
- Develop legal content for privacy training and awareness programs
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree from an accredited law school
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law, preferably within healthcare or life sciences
- Proficient knowledge of global and U.S. data privacy laws, including GDPR and HIPAA
- Proven experience advising on cybersecurity incidents and regulatory compliance
- Skilled in drafting and negotiating contracts related to data protection and privacy
Desired Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with U.S. state consumer privacy laws such as CCPA and CPA
- Knowledge of PCI DSS, NIST Cybersecurity Framework
- Certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPP/E, CIPT, CHPC, CHPS, CISSP
- Understanding of international privacy laws including LGPD (Brazil) and PIPEDA (Canada)
- Experience with data management systems, compliance frameworks, contract management systems
- Proficiency with health data security technologies, incident management tools, risk assessment tools
- Experience with privacy training software, cloud security solutions, third-party risk management technologies, and regulatory monitoring tools
