Senior Patent Attorney

Overview

A modern boutique law firm platform is seeking an experienced Patent Attorney or Patent Partner to join its growing intellectual property practice. This platform offers an alternative to traditional BigLaw and legacy boutique models by providing a reduced-overhead structure that prioritizes quality, efficiency, and autonomy, allowing attorneys to retain a significantly greater share of the revenue they generate.

Responsibilities

• Patent prosecution, counseling, opinions, and portfolio strategy
• Managing and growing a portable book of business
• Collaborating with senior attorneys across practices in a national, remote practice environment

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience as a patent attorney
• Meaningful portable book of business
• Background at an Am Law 100 firm or established intellectual property boutique
• Self-directed with an entrepreneurial mindset

Compensation & Benefits

• Partner-level, percentage-based compensation structured as a guaranteed draw tied to originations
• Anticipated compensation range of approximately 25–40% of collected billings
• Initial draw expected between $125,000 and $400,000, depending on the size of the portable book of business, performance, and firm economics
• Minimal administrative burden
• Full geographic flexibility with a national practice
• Collaborative environment with senior attorneys
