Overview
A leading provider of business cloud communications and contact center solutions is seeking a Senior Privacy Counsel to serve as the primary privacy legal advisor supporting product teams developing AI-first communications and contact center solutions for multinational customers. This role involves navigating complex global privacy laws and AI regulations to provide actionable legal guidance that supports business growth and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the dedicated privacy legal contact for Engineering and Product Management teams throughout the development lifecycle of new services and features.
- Provide specialized legal advice on privacy implications of new features, including AI-related functionalities, ensuring compliance with emerging AI regulations and ethical privacy guidelines.
- Lead execution and documentation of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new products and services.
- Ensure compliance with evolving global privacy and security regulations.
- Collaborate with the Information Security team to review product security controls, conduct risk analyses, and align legal privacy requirements with technical security implementations, including HIPAA considerations.
- Develop and update customer-facing privacy collateral and resources to support transparency.
- Support records of processing activities and documentation related to data locations, transfers, and subprocessors.
- Participate in the incident response program by maintaining current documentation and representing the privacy team during incident response activities.
- Monitor global legal developments and collaborate with industry peers to stay informed on privacy trends and issues.
- Provide guidance and collaborate with other Privacy Team members as needed.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- Minimum of 6 years of legal experience focused on data privacy, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
- Direct experience counseling product teams on privacy requirements, balancing business needs with legal compliance.
- Deep knowledge of major global privacy laws and practical experience implementing these laws in product innovation.
- Understanding of legal and governance implications related to AI adoption and development.
- Proven ability to solve product legal matters and effectively communicate with stakeholders of varying legal and technical backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify opportunities to streamline legal processes and improve efficiency.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing needs, and work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with AI-related privacy and regulatory issues.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and other security-related privacy requirements.

- Salary range: $140,000 - $200,000 annually, depending on location, skills, and experience.
