Overview
A fast-growing private cloud company specializing in real-time analytics, data warehousing, and data observability is seeking a Senior Product Counsel. This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel, Product and IP, and will be an early member of the legal team focused on supporting product and engineering teams throughout the full product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal support and counsel to product and engineering teams from early-stage feature development through launch and ongoing operations.
- Help build privacy-by-design practices into product development.
- Shape legal frameworks for responsible product development at scale, with emphasis on AI/ML, data privacy, intellectual property, and open-source issues.
- Act as a solutions-oriented advisor and business enabler while maintaining high standards of legal practice and business ethics.
- Advise on, draft, and review technology licensing and integration partnership agreements with strategic product and ecosystem partners.
- Provide guidance on trademark and brand protection matters.
- Support integration efforts related to acquisitions.
- Collaborate with Security and Privacy teams on incident response.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- Authorized to practice law in your state of residence.
- 4 to 8 years of legal experience combining Big Law and in-house roles at technology companies.
- Strong product counseling experience.
- Expertise in AI/ML legal issues, data privacy regulations (including GDPR and CCPA), open-source licensing, and intellectual property.
- Excellent judgment and business orientation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Innate curiosity, attention to detail, high organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a SaaS company, especially in databases, data infrastructure, or data platforms.
Compensation & Benefits
- Targeted annual base salary range: $250,000 to $275,000.
