Overview
This role is for a Senior Product Counsel - Healthcare on the Legal team. You will serve as a legal partner to product teams, grounding guidance in how products work in practice and in what is feasible within the regulatory environment.
Healthcare regulation and privacy are central to this position. As products expand into additional regulated areas, you will also build working expertise across adjacent domains.
Responsibilities
- Provide healthcare regulatory expertise for health technology in the U.S. regulatory environment, including analysis and guidance related to:
- HIPAA
- State general and consumer health privacy laws
- Anti-Kickback Statute
- OIG Medicare and Medicaid regulations
- PhRMA codes
- TCPA and CAN-SPAM
- Accessibility
- Card processing and payments regulations
- Other relevant legal areas
- Partner closely with Product to develop a deep understanding of the organization’s business and how each product works, advising teams on what is feasible in light of applicable law.
- Learn and ramp up quickly on unfamiliar regulated domains.
- Translate regulatory complexity into actionable guidance for cross-functional teams, working with executive, product, engineering, marketing, and sales teams.
- Build processes that help teams move effectively based on legal guidance, enabling faster and more efficient execution.
- Protect patient data by partnering closely with the Chief Privacy Officer to ensure patient data is never jeopardized.
- Strengthen the Legal team by contributing to improvements in legal work and supporting legal colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD from a top-tier law school
- 8+ years of healthcare regulatory experience across a combination of a top-tier law firm and in-house companies, preferably high-growth organizations
- Licensed to practice law in your state of residence
- Substantial product counseling experience, including advising product teams on regulated products from concept through launch

- Significant experience advising product and engineering teams on how to build and ship in a heavily regulated environment
- Ability to learn new areas of law quickly and provide practical, defensible guidance
- Creative problem-solving skills comfortable with ambiguity, complexity, and nuance
- Strong legal and business judgment, with the ability to balance legal risk with business and commercial considerations
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts and risks into clear guidance for non-legal colleagues
- Comfort engaging in dialogue around risk and having assumptions challenged by internal product owners or outside counsel
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a remote environment

- Base Salary: $240,000-280,000 USD inclusive of base salary and variable incentive.
