Overview
A remote Senior Staff Attorney position is available to litigate cases across Maryland and the District of Columbia. This role is suited for an experienced attorney with significant expertise in Premises Liability, Products Liability, and Commercial and Personal Automobile accident cases. The attorney will independently manage cases from inception through trial, delivering effective defense strategies and excellent client service.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues and conduct thorough legal research
- Develop and present defense strategies independently
- Prepare pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs with minimal supervision
- Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal results for insured clients
- Provide timely legal advice and communication to clients and claims partners
- Communicate professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel
- Manage prompt and efficient case disposition
- Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolutions
- Research, draft, file, and argue substantive motions
- Provide legal opinions to Managing Attorney, staff, clients, and claims customers
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases in Maryland and the District of Columbia
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia, with ability to practice in federal courts
- First-chair jury trial and appellate experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in claim case handling and litigation
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient communication, computer, and technology skills, including the ability to quickly learn new software and use AI tools
Additional Information
- This is a remote position; however, the attorney must be available to travel within Maryland and the District of Columbia as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base pay range: $132,400 - $198,600
- Actual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and competencies
- Total compensation package may include bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition programs
