Overview
A remote opportunity is available for a Senior Staff Attorney to litigate cases primarily in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. This role is suited for an experienced attorney with significant trial and litigation experience in Premises Liability as well as Commercial and Personal Motor Vehicle Accident cases. The attorney will work independently from case inception through trial and report to the Managing Attorney.
Responsibilities
- Handle moderately complex and moderately high exposure litigation
- Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues, conduct extensive legal research, and develop defense strategies independently
- Prepare pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs with minimal supervision
- Provide timely legal advice and information to clients and claims partners in a technology-driven environment
- Communicate professionally with courts, clients, claims partners, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel
- Ensure prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases
- Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial and administrative hearings, and alternative dispute resolutions
- Provide legal opinions to Managing Attorney, Assistant Managing Attorney, staff, clients, and claims customers
- Attend continuing legal education seminars to maintain professional expertise
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in New York State; admission to federal courts is a plus
- Member in good standing of the New York Bar Association
- Minimum of 7 years of insurance defense legal experience
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively
- Strong communication, computer, and technological skills, including the ability to quickly leverage new AI tools
- Demonstrated expertise in handling claim cases and litigation
Compensation & Benefits
- Annualized base pay range: $132,400 - $198,600
- Actual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstration of required competencies
- Total compensation package may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition
