Overview
A Senior Staff Attorney position is available to litigate cases primarily in southern (Atlantic County) and western vicinages of New Jersey. This role is suited for an experienced attorney with significant trial and litigation expertise in Workers' Compensation law. The attorney will independently manage cases from inception through trial, reporting to the Staff Legal Managing Attorney or Assistant Managing Attorney.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues and conduct thorough legal research.
- Develop and present defense strategies independently.
- Prepare pleadings, written discovery, oppositions to motions for medical treatment (MMTs), and trial briefs in collaboration with legal assistants and paralegals.
- Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.
- Provide timely legal advice and communication on litigation-related issues.
- Communicate professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
- Facilitate efficient case disposition.
- Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, and motions.
- Research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs.
- Participate in team meetings and provide in-house training to junior associates and claims partners.
- Conduct claims file reviews.
- Attend continuing legal education seminars to maintain professional expertise.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of legal practice experience handling complex, admitted, occupational, and dependency Workers’ Compensation cases, including trials and motions.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the state of New Jersey.
- Trial experience preferred.
- Positive, collaborative team-player attitude.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Self-directed with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to quickly learn and utilize new software.
- Demonstrated expertise in handling claim cases and litigation.

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range: $132,400 - $198,600
- Actual salary may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies.
- Total compensation package may include bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition programs.
Location & Work Arrangement
- This is a remote work opportunity.
- Travel is required to attend in-person hearings, trials, and motions as mandated by specific judges or court vicinages within southern (Atlantic County) and western New Jersey.
