Overview

A legal team based in Burbank, CA is seeking a Senior Trial Attorney with a strong background in employment and workers' compensation law. The role involves representing clients in litigation related to discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage disputes, and workplace injuries. This position requires managing cases from inception through resolution, including court appearances, trials, hearings, arbitrations, and mediations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as first chair on designated cases, developing and executing comprehensive case strategies.
  • Represent clients in court trials, hearings, arbitrations, and mediations.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Interview witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare for trial.
  • Conduct direct and cross-examinations.
  • Negotiate settlements and plea agreements when appropriate.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on litigation matters.
  • Collaborate with legal teams, paralegals, and investigators.
  • Stay current with changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
  • Manage and supervise junior attorneys and support staff.
  • Review and analyze complex employment law documents and contracts.
  • Monitor compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
  • Participate in client development and business generation activities.
  • Maintain detailed case files and documentation.
  • Develop and implement litigation budgets.
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and consultants.
  • Provide mentorship and training to associates and support staff.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to strengthen litigation practice and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience.
  • At least 2 years of trial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of procedural rules, including Rule 23 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
  • Superior project management and team leadership skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $200,000 - $250,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
