Overview
This role involves serving as a Senior Trial Attorney responsible for defending insured individuals and the organization in bodily injury, property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and uninsured/underinsured motorist cases. The position includes conducting trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions, as well as providing legal counsel to business clients and coordinating legal teams. Staying current with new laws and regulations to provide proactive advice is a key component.
Responsibilities
- Represent insured individuals and the organization in defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and uninsured/underinsured motorist cases.
- Prepare for and conduct hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
- Draft and present pre- and post-trial motions.
- Collaborate with colleagues to resolve calendar conflicts.
- Provide legal counsel to business clients on day-to-day matters.
- Manage projects efficiently, fostering coordination among legal teams.
- Monitor and evaluate new laws, regulations, and case law; summarize relevant issues and provide proactive advice to business units.
- Oversee legal representation as needed.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree.
- Active membership in good standing with the Connecticut State Bar.
- Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience or strong litigation-related skills including case strategy development, legal research, and advocacy.
- Ability to manage complex disputes and work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with LexisNexis and internet research preferred.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.
- Ability to independently manage an active caseload and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a remote/hybrid environment.
- Willingness to travel throughout Connecticut, including courts and legal venues in Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut.
Preferred Qualifications
- First or second chair jury trial experience.
- Experience with insurance defense litigation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary range: $120,000 to $150,000, based on experience and qualifications.

Additional Information
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
