Special Counsel Employment Attorney

Overview

A leading national labor and employment law firm is seeking an experienced Special Counsel Employment Attorney to join its fully remote team. This senior-level, partner-equivalent role is ideal for accomplished employment attorneys who enjoy managing complex cases independently while mentoring junior attorneys. The position offers the opportunity to provide exceptional client service without the pressures of business development.

Salary Range: $167,500 - $205,000 per year, depending on experience

Responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of employment matters, including administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation for clients, including those with Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI)
• Oversee and supervise junior attorneys by reviewing work product, providing feedback, and developing case strategies
• Draft and respond to discovery and initial pleadings, draft and argue motions, and take and defend depositions
• Represent clients at hearings, conferences, and trials
• Handle administrative charges, demand letters, and single-plaintiff litigation, with potential involvement in class actions, PAGA cases, and other labor and employment law matters
• Collaborate closely with partners and clients to deliver high-quality legal solutions

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
• Active state bar admission
• Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing employment law and litigation
• Proven ability to independently manage complex employment matters and supervise others
• Strong writing, analytical, and case management skills
• Comfortable handling EPLI matters and working with administrative agencies
• Bar admission in California is preferred
