Overview
This role supports a direct-to-homeowner solar sales and financing business and a New Homes business. The position involves providing legal counsel to a collegial team of 25 legal professionals and reporting to the Assistant General Counsel.
Responsibilities
- Primarily support contracts for New Homes and TPO business, with a focus on consumer contracts and dealer contracts.
- Negotiate, draft, and review commercial agreements with customers, suppliers, partners, and other third parties.
- Project manage assigned legal work and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance matters to timely completion aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
- Provide legal support for litigation, regulatory matters, consumer protection, data privacy, cybersecurity, and other relevant areas of law as needed.
- Create legal and commercial forms and processes and educate the business on important legal and commercial matters.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience.
- Top law firm training preferred.
- In-house experience, preferably with a broad range of responsibilities.
- Experience working for a direct-to-homeowner solar sales and financing business or other clean energy or global technology company is a plus.
- Strong judgment and effective communication with business colleagues, including the ability to explain risks in a manner digestible to a non-attorney audience.
- Proactive, can-do attitude; eager to take on more responsibility, learn new areas of law, and collaborate with colleagues outside of legal to build effective cross-functional relationships.
- Demonstrated advancement in career trajectory.
- Proven problem-solving capability.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the anticipated annual base salary for this position is:
- Zone 1 (Bay Area, NYC): $184,900 - $231,100
- Zone 2 (CA, NJ, NY): $169,500 - $211,900
- Zone 3 (All others): $154,100 - $192,600
The applicable salary range is based on the employee’s primary work location. Individual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, internal equity, and other business-related factors.
Additional note: The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. This target salary range is for CA positions only and should not be interpreted as an offer of compensation.
