Overview
This role is a senior attorney position within the organization’s Commercial Contracts function, focused on sophisticated insurance transactions (not insurance policies). The work includes procurement and insurance contracts, insurance distribution arrangements, reinsurance, and complex commercial insurance programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the structuring, drafting, and negotiation of complex insurance distribution arrangements, including agency and aggregator relationships.
- Advise on reinsurance transactions, including inbound, outbound, catastrophe, and opportunistic reinsurance.
- Structure complex, often multi-party insurance programs and commercial transactions, including:
- Fleet programs
- Fronting arrangements
- High- or 100% deductible structures
- Collateral arrangements
- MGA or program administrator relationships
- Related program, third-party claims administration, and service agreements
- Coordinate suites of interrelated agreements and translate novel business models into workable legal and commercial structures.
- Partner across the organization on strategic and emerging initiatives and contribute to other matters handled by the team, including general commercial contracts, intellectual property, and marketing matters.
- Participate in Legal department and company process-improvement initiatives, including adoption of new tools and approaches to delivering legal services.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Bar admission in good standing in the state of residency.
- 10+ years of experience in a relevant practice area.
- Substantial knowledge of current law and issues within the area of specialty.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an organized, effective, and timely manner.
- Ability to work in an organized and efficient manner.

Compensation & Benefits
- National average salary range for this position: $177,525.00-$197,250.00.
- Location-based compensation structure applies.
- Starting pay range across all states the employer hires in: $177,525.00-$236,650.00.
- Opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus under the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP): up to 15% of eligible pay.
- 401(k) with a company match.
- Annual bonus eligibility for most roles.
Location
- Remote anywhere in the United States, with the following exceptions: Hawaii and Alaska.
Colorado Specific Job Range
- $177,525.00 - $216,950.00
