Overview
A leading solar photovoltaic products and solutions provider is seeking a Senior Counsel to support its direct-to-homeowner solar sales and financing business. This role involves working within a legal team of approximately 20 professionals and reporting to the Assistant General Counsel. The position will focus on a broad range of legal matters including consumer protection, regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, state and local licensing, and litigation support. The legal team is expected to grow rapidly, offering opportunities for career advancement. The role is based in Irvine, CA, with remote work considered for exceptional candidates.
Responsibilities
- Support contracts related to third-party ownership (TPO) business, focusing on consumer and dealer contracts.
- Negotiate, draft, and review commercial agreements with customers, suppliers, partners, and other third parties.
- Manage legal projects proactively and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and growth plans.
- Provide legal support in litigation, regulatory matters, consumer protection, data privacy, cybersecurity, and other relevant areas.
- Develop legal and commercial forms and processes and educate business teams on key legal and commercial issues.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of legal experience.
- Training at a top law firm preferred.
- In-house legal experience with a broad range of responsibilities is preferred.
- Experience in direct-to-homeowner solar sales and financing, clean energy, or global technology sectors is a plus.
- Strong judgment and ability to communicate legal risks clearly to non-attorney colleagues.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to take on responsibility and learn new areas of law.
- Demonstrated career advancement and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.
