Overview

A remote-first healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide expert legal guidance at the intersection of healthcare regulation and commercial growth. This role involves supporting payor and clinical contracting efforts, advising on complex regulatory issues, and helping build scalable, compliant partnerships to ensure quality mental health services. The position offers the opportunity to develop foundational legal processes that enable accessible, high-quality mental healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice on healthcare regulatory matters including corporate practice of medicine, federal and state fraud and abuse laws (e.g., Anti-Kickback Statutes, False Claims Act, Civil Monetary Penalties Law), scope of practice, telehealth laws, HIPAA, clinical governance for AI initiatives, Medicare and Medicaid requirements, and reimbursement issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts such as provider agreements, payor agreements, commercial agreements, network participation agreements, business associate agreements, management services agreements, and professional services agreements.
  • Collaborate closely with business teams to build compliant partnerships and support daily operations.
  • Translate complex regulatory challenges into clear, actionable advice that mitigates risk and supports business objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of professional legal experience.
  • At least 5 years of healthcare regulatory law experience, either in a law firm or in-house, with demonstrated expertise in relevant healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Minimum 5 years of contracting experience involving drafting and negotiating diverse healthcare-related agreements.
  • Experience working with and supporting healthcare providers and/or healthcare entities.
  • Strong writing, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to provide efficient and practical legal guidance in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Privacy Law.
  • Experience in Employment Law.
