Overview

An established healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Operations Counsel to join its legal team. This role involves providing day-to-day legal support across a national outpatient imaging platform, including outpatient imaging centers, managed physician practices, Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF) operations, and related business functions.

The position requires close collaboration with operational, physician, compliance, and executive leadership to deliver clear, practical, and timely legal advice on a wide range of healthcare operational matters. The ideal candidate will have strong regulatory judgment, sound business instincts, and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to supporting a complex, multi-site provider platform.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily legal support for outpatient imaging centers, managed physician practices, IDTF operations, and related business areas.
  • Advise on healthcare operational, regulatory, contracting, and sales and marketing issues.
  • Offer legal guidance on physician and referral-source relationships.
  • Support physician employment, compensation, governance, and alignment matters.
  • Counsel on payor and other commercially significant operational arrangements.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate key agreements such as services agreements, compensation models, research agreements, and other strategic contracts.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and business leadership to identify legal risks and develop practical recommendations.
  • Support new operational and strategic initiatives by advising on legal considerations and implementation.
  • Assist with partnerships, joint ventures, and transaction-related matters.
  • Develop practical guidance and training on legal and regulatory issues affecting the business.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and legal staff.
  • Manage outside counsel efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience in healthcare law.
  • Substantial experience in healthcare operations, contracting, and regulatory counseling.
  • Strong background advising provider organizations, physician practices, IDTFs, or other multi-site healthcare platforms.
  • Experience with physician, referral-source, payor, and other healthcare arrangements.
  • Proven ability to support business initiatives and strategic transactions in healthcare.
  • Prior experience in both law firm and in-house legal roles preferred.
  • Experience in growth-oriented, private equity-backed, and/or public company environments is a plus.
  • Practical, business-oriented, and solutions-focused approach.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with strong judgment and discretion.
  • Strong prioritization and project management capabilities.
  • Credibility with executives, physicians, and operational leaders.
  • Experience supervising junior lawyers and managing outside counsel.
