Overview
This role is primarily remote within the state of Nevada, except for required appearances. Compensation includes base salary and yearly performance bonus; the yearly bonus amount will be discussed during the interview process.
Opportunity is available for a Workers' Compensation Attorney admitted and residing in Nevada. Responsibilities include handling workers compensation matters, conducting depositions, and representing the organization and its policyholders at Workers Compensation hearings.
Responsibilities
- Use litigation protocols to develop and revise legal strategy for discovery, investigation, handling, and trial/hearing of cases or matters.
- Make appearances before the Workers Compensation Board, conduct depositions, and draft and file summations, appeals, and rebuttals.
- Research applicable law; draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs, and opinions as required.
- If requested, conduct settlement negotiations.
- Advise, communicate, and confer with Claims Representatives and insured clients; provide clear, unambiguous legal opinions and advice.
- Meet with and maintain good relations and communications with Claims Representatives and insured clients as required.
- Stay current with developments in the law; understand medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering, or similar issues and defenses involved in cases or matters.
- Prepare and conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments as required.
- Provide daily direction and guidance to junior attorneys.
- Understand and creatively use technology; apply technology to improve quality and reduce cost.
- Serve as a team/group leader for an assigned group handling workers compensation cases.
- Interface with the Home Office Legal department.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in Nevada and in good standing; special licenses to practice before particular boards or federal courts may be required.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful attorney experience; Workers Compensation experience required.
- Experience with settlement conferences, expedited hearings, and conducting depositions; trial experience preferred.
- Proven experience managing moderately complex litigation with demonstrated success in achieving favorable outcomes.
- General knowledge of insurance law, and as necessary, workers compensation and/or No Fault law.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in advanced e-discovery tools, legal case management software, and remote collaboration technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior attorneys and legal staff.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
- Commitment to ethical legal practice and compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range reflects the competitive labor market value across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles may include a corresponding compensation plan that may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
