Overview

This primarily remote role is based within the state of Nevada, with occasional required appearances. Compensation includes a base salary and a yearly performance bonus, with the bonus amount to be discussed during the interview process.

The organization is seeking a Workers' Compensation Attorney admitted and residing in Nevada to handle a caseload of workers’ compensation matters. The attorney will conduct depositions, represent the organization and its policyholders at Workers' Compensation hearings, and collaborate with the Workers’ Compensation claims team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise legal strategies for discovery, investigation, case handling, and trial/hearing using established litigation protocols.
  • Appear before the Workers' Compensation Board, conduct depositions, and draft and file summations, appeals, and rebuttals.
  • Research applicable law; draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs, and opinions as needed.
  • Conduct settlement negotiations when requested.
  • Advise and communicate clearly with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients, maintaining good relations.
  • Stay current with legal developments and understand relevant medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering, or similar issues involved in cases.
  • Prepare and conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments as required.
  • Provide daily guidance and direction to junior attorneys.
  • Utilize technology creatively to improve legal processes and reduce costs.
  • Act as a team or group leader for an assigned group handling workers’ compensation cases.
  • Interface with the Home Office Legal department.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Nevada bar and in good standing; special licenses to practice before particular boards or federal courts may be required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful attorney experience, with required Workers’ Compensation experience.
  • Experience with settlement conferences, expedited hearings, and conducting depositions; trial experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage moderately complex litigation and achieve favorable outcomes.
  • General knowledge of insurance law and, as necessary, workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in advanced e-discovery tools, legal case management software, and remote collaboration technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior attorneys and legal staff.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
  • Commitment to ethical legal practice and compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.
