Overview

An established tax and legal services firm is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to develop and lead a team focused on delivering comprehensive estate planning services. This role involves expanding an existing book of business through client referrals and local connections, while providing expert counsel on a wide range of estate planning matters including preparation, administration, and litigation if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing estate planning team.
  • Provide professional legal counsel on complex estate planning and tax law matters.
  • Design and draft comprehensive estate and gift tax planning structures, including corporate transactions, partnership freezes, Family Limited Partnerships, ILITs, SLATS, charitable lead annuity trusts, intentionally defective irrevocable trusts, and tax-free reorganizations.
  • Prepare and file Federal Form 706 for Estate and Generation-Skipping Taxes, coordinating with clients and service providers such as CPAs, financial advisors, and insurance providers.
  • Prepare and file Form 709 for United States Gift Taxes, ensuring proper tax treatment regarding cost basis, lifetime gifting exemptions, and split-gifts.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and systemization for drafting wills and trusts to train team members.
  • Maintain accurate electronic time tracking.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with clients both in-person and virtually.
  • Conduct legal research and produce high-quality written work with strong analytical skills.
  • Present confidently and maintain respectful, professional client relationships.

Requirements

  • Active license and good standing with The Florida Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Estate Planning and Tax Law.
  • Proven ability to design complex estate planning packages tailored to client needs.
  • Extensive experience with federal estate and gift tax filings.
  • Strong leadership skills with a mindset for building and managing a team.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and client engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership within the business.
  • Must reside in the U.S. and have appropriate work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including CPAs, financial advisors, and insurance providers.
  • Demonstrated success in growing a book of business through client referrals and local networks.
