Overview

This is a non-merit, temporary position. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

The organization is seeking a temporary Civil Rights Attorney to support civil rights enforcement in Iowa.

This role is approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling, and a maximum of 780 hours over the next year. Remote work is available.

Responsibilities

  • Review and investigate complaints of discrimination in employment, public accommodations, credit, and education.
  • Analyze records, gather comparative evidence, and apply legal standards to determine if discrimination occurred.
  • Prepare clear, well-reasoned written reports outlining investigative findings and legal analysis.
  • Work closely with a team of legal professionals dedicated to civil rights in Iowa.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited school of law.
