Overview
This role involves serving as a Title Attorney responsible for reviewing title documents, addressing title curative issues, and maintaining communication with clients regarding title matters and updates on the curative process.
Responsibilities
- Independently review title examination documents to verify clear title in accordance with applicable title standards
- Conduct searches and review public records to resolve title issues, including research on bank mergers and Secretary of State Business Entity information
- Prepare summaries of title issues and recommend the best methods for resolution, providing these to clients
- Request fees for curative actions taken, including hourly billing if applicable
- File title claims and collaborate with title insurers and/or outside counsel
- Assist with curative title actions as needed, including providing documentation requested by insurers
- Apply knowledge of title requirements from HUD, FNMA, FHLMC, and the VA
- Understand the impact of title issues on the foreclosure process across various states within the firm's operational footprint
- Communicate clearly and concisely with clients using their preferred systems of record
- Utilize proprietary client systems such as Tempo, LPS/Black Knight, and PMAC, as well as email, to update clients on curative measures
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Title Attorney
- Knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, and litigation documentation
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail
- Extensive computer and database proficiency
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing in one or more states within the firm's legal footprint
- Ability to maintain confidentiality professionally
