Overview
A grant-funded opportunity is available for a Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor (TSRP) to work remotely in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) State Safety Office. This role supports impaired driving prosecution efforts across Florida, primarily focusing on northern Florida.
Responsibilities
- Implement the Florida TSRP Program directives as designated by the FDOT State Safety Office.
- Assist in drafting annual concept papers, budgets, subgrant paperwork, and quarterly reports.
- Assess training needs of prosecutors and State Attorney’s Offices, emphasizing impaired driving case prosecution.
- Coordinate and develop DUI training seminars, including agendas, content, instructors, locations, and logistics.
- Prepare and deliver lectures on DUI law, trial issues, and related topics.
- Maintain and update the Florida TSRP website with resources for prosecutors and law enforcement.
- Provide technical assistance to prosecutors and law enforcement, including legal guidance, distribution of materials, and legal opinions on DUI-related legislation.
- Offer in-court technical assistance during pre/post-trial hearings and trials as time permits.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to clarify prosecutorial policies and improve cooperation.
- Present at law enforcement and impaired driving seminars and conferences.
- Attend relevant seminars to stay current on traffic safety training and impaired driving issues.
- Develop and maintain relationships with FDOT, Tallahassee State College, and national traffic safety organizations.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as an Assistant State Attorney prosecuting impaired driving cases.
- Licensed attorney and member in good standing of the Florida Bar.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including frequent evenings, weekends, and travel.
- Residency in Florida north of Gainesville upon appointment.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Willingness to travel statewide, with primary responsibility in northern Florida.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
- Litigation experience with a history of DUI trial practice.
- Experience in adult training and education.
- Familiarity with Westlaw and legal research tools.
- Ability to audit invoices and manage payment tracking.
- Strong understanding of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Additional Information
- The position is classified as Standard Class within the Florida Retirement System.
- Legal practice is limited to the TSRP Program; outside legal work or employment is not permitted.
- A vehicle will be provided for work-related travel.
Location
This is a remote position with a requirement to reside in northern Florida (north of Gainesville) and travel throughout the state as needed.
