Overview
This is a full-time, 100% remote Legal Counsel position based in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on supporting the organization's expansion into the UK market by ensuring compliance with UK regulatory obligations, particularly in the banking and crypto sectors. Residency in the UK is a mandatory requirement.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage UK regulatory applications, ensuring submissions are robust, timely, and aligned with business objectives.
- Act as a key legal adviser on the structuring and ongoing compliance of new product rollouts, collaborating with Product, Marketing, Compliance, and other teams.
- Monitor, interpret, and advise on the evolving UK legal and regulatory landscape, especially within Banking Fintech and Blockchain sectors.
- Assess, implement, and maintain standards related to key UK regulations, including consumer duty principles and financial promotions rules.
- Review and analyze complex legal and regulatory information, providing concise analysis and actionable recommendations.
- Provide legal advice on commercial and regulatory matters, including reviewing client-facing communications for compliance.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally from a mix of private practice and in-house roles within Financial Services (banking, payments, or cryptoassets).
- UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with significant experience in the UK legal and regulatory environment.
- Hands-on experience with regulatory applications for fintechs in banking, payments, or cryptoasset industries is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and advisory skills with the ability to research and provide clear, pragmatic, commercially-minded advice.
- Problem-solving skills with innovative and proactive approaches to legal and regulatory challenges.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Technological proficiency to work with various tools and collaborate with a global team digitally.
- Project management skills, including leading projects and interacting across multiple teams.
