Overview
The organization is seeking a U.S. Licensing Specialist to join its government affairs and regulatory team. This role supports the acquisition and management of regulatory authorizations that facilitate the organization’s provision of services in the United States. The position also incorporates General Counsel (GC) elements, including monitoring legal environments and formulating adaptable company positions to mitigate regulatory risk.
Responsibilities
- Project Management: Manage complex licensing projects and effectively track and communicate project status to internal and external stakeholders.
- Internal Collaboration: Coordinate with global licensing teams and other business, technical, legal, and accounting teams to gather inputs for licensing materials and ensure alignment with product roadmaps.
- Application Drafting: Support the drafting of application narratives and template application materials, and assist with preparation and submission of license applications and related filings.
- Research & Analysis: Conduct research and prepare analyses regarding U.S. licensing requirements and implications for existing and planned business operations.
- Portfolio Maintenance: Track the status of existing licenses and pending applications, ensuring compliance deadlines and reporting requirements are met promptly.
- Compliance & Monitoring: Monitor significant developments in legal and regulatory environments to help formulate adaptable strategies.
- Regulatory Advocacy: Assist in crafting advocacy materials and drafting written comments for ongoing regulatory proceedings to communicate the organization’s positions to regulators.
Requirements
- Experience: 6–8 years of experience in government and regulatory affairs, specifically with telecommunications-related licensing matters (preferably in the satellite space).
- Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate fully, clearly, and concisely, both orally and in writing, with leadership and government partners.
- Organization: Excellent administrative skills, high attention to detail, and ability to run simultaneous projects under pressure.
- Adaptability: Ability to take initiative and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Teamwork: Ability to operate effectively as part of a team and consistently meet strict deadlines.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 20% as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent will assist with the legal analysis components of the role.
- Experience collaborating with external counsel or consultants to align external advocacy with company positions.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $89,000.00 - $141,000.00 / annually.
- Base pay for specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area: $111,000.00 - $166,000.00 / annually.
- Base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided. Medical, financial, and/or other benefits are dependent on the position offered.
