Overview

An established leadership development organization for girls is seeking a Vice President, Associate General Counsel to join their Office of the General Counsel. This role provides legal expertise supporting supply chain and E-commerce operations related to a major product line, including negotiating commercial agreements, advising on regulatory and operational matters, and managing legal risks and disputes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiation, drafting, execution, and closing of commercial agreements supporting supply chain, vendor, supplier, logistics, shipping, distribution, payment processors/providers, and E-commerce/retail operations.
  • Advise on supply chain operations, compliance, regulatory requirements, and supplier relationships.
  • Provide legal guidance to business leadership on operational and strategic decisions, supporting transformational initiatives.
  • Deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and commercial risks.
  • Monitor regulatory developments related to food law, E-commerce compliance, consumer protection, and omni-channel retail experiences.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, retail, and E-commerce teams to enhance compliance and innovation.
  • Manage and oversee outside counsel related to commercial disputes and litigation.
  • Ensure legal documents are updated regularly to reflect best practices.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar license in New York or another U.S. state.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience combining law firm and in-house roles.
  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial contracting, procurement, supply chain, or related industries, including a minimum of 2 years in consumer packaged goods (CPG) with experience in co-manufacturing agreements and labeling reviews.
  • Extensive experience drafting and negotiating vendor/supplier agreements, purchase orders, manufacturing/distribution contracts, NDAs, MSAs, service agreements, logistics/trade compliance matters, and risk assessment/mitigation.
  • Strong understanding of legal risks in food-related operations and retail law.
  • Preferred FDA regulatory experience, especially in food labeling, ingredient statements, allergen disclosures, claims review, and compliance for packaged food.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate legal strategies to non-lawyer colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Office 365 or similar productivity suites.
  • Competency in PowerPoint or similar presentation software.
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $165,000 - $200,000 (applicable to NYC Metro-based employees on a hybrid schedule; actual pay varies based on experience).
