Overview
This remote contract position is for an experienced family law attorney who is barred in Washington State. Work is fully remote, with a preference for attorneys residing in Washington state. The role supports a law firm that focuses on Family and Divorce, Wills and Estates, Criminal Law, Guardianship, Asset Protection Planning and Elder Law.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in the office and in court during legal proceedings, ensuring clients’ rights and interests are effectively protected.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies and provide sound legal advice.
- Manage a caseload from initial consultation to resolution, including drafting and reviewing legal documents, preparing legal arguments, making court appearances, and negotiating settlements.
- Conduct legal consultations and provide expert legal advice by explaining legal options, potential outcomes, and strategies.
- Ensure legal practice and personal and professional conduct adhere to state and federal regulations and ethical requirements, including staying updated on changes in the law.
- Maintain clear and regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of case progress and promptly addressing concerns.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working on family law and/or estate planning matters.
- Capable of working independently.
- Excellent communication, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Washington state.
- Outstanding references.

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: The annualized pay ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 on a full-time basis.
- Contract Pay: Based on multiple factors including work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate, which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
- Professional Liability Insurance: Complimentary coverage for all attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements.
