Overview
A legal team is seeking a Workers' Compensation (WC) Defense Attorney to join their fast-paced and innovative practice. This is a 100% remote position offering flexible billing requirements and a bonus structure. The role involves handling a wide range of workers' compensation defense cases and requires a combination of legal expertise, advocacy skills, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Provide aggressive representation for clients throughout all phases of workers' compensation defense litigation, from case inception to resolution.
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues and conduct thorough legal research.
- Independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
- Prepare and draft legal documents including pleadings, briefs, opinions, orders, and subpoenas.
- Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.
- Conduct and defend depositions of claimants, medical personnel, and other parties.
- Negotiate settlements during mediation and informal settlement conferences.
- Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and updates on case status.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Bar in good standing.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney.
- Proven track record in workers' compensation defense litigation.
- In-depth knowledge of current workers' compensation laws, regulations, court rules, and procedures.
- Strong advocacy, legal research, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases and projects effectively.
- High level of independence and initiative.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work remotely and utilize digital communication tools efficiently.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $150,000 - $220,000 per year.
