Overview

A boutique workers' compensation firm serving employers and insurance carriers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey is seeking a Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney. This fully remote role involves managing a caseload of workers' compensation matters, including court appearances primarily in the southern vicinage of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex legal and factual issues and conduct thorough research
  • Develop and present defense strategies
  • Draft pleadings, discovery responses, briefs, and related legal documents
  • Collaborate with clients to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Communicate effectively with clients, courts, witnesses, and opposing counsel
  • Manage cases efficiently and prepare and present evidence at hearings and trials
  • Draft and argue appellate briefs
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, file reviews, and continuing education

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in New Jersey in good standing
  • 7+ years of experience in workers' compensation defense, including trials and motion practice
  • Strong litigation, negotiation, research, writing, and courtroom skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using new technology
  • Organized, self-directed, and able to work collaboratively
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently
  • Experience with case management software is a plus

Location
