Overview
This role is for 1P Legal Domain Experts (SMEs) supporting legal research and document review work across defined U.S. legal domains. Work is remote and engaged on a contract, 1099-only basis.

- Contract: 1099 Only
- Rate: $90–$100/hr (1099 max)
Domain Specialties (Target Jurisdictions & Focus Areas)
SMEs will support the following three specialties:

- Breach of fiduciary duty
- Transactional drafting

- Client Rule 3270, Form U4/U5 disclosures, BrokerCheck

- FMLA/statutory leave

- Professional licensing/bar disciplinary procedures
- Restrictive covenants
Responsibilities
SMEs will:
- Establish legal ground truth
- Review AI-generated legal research and agent trajectories
- Verify claims and citations
- Distinguish binding vs. persuasive authority
- Identify jurisdictional/legal reasoning errors
- Create detailed evaluation rubrics
- Review and/or draft legal documents
Engagement Structure
- Flex-headcount / ongoing pool
- Phase 1 calibration: initial 5 calibration tasks
- Each task: approximately 10–15 hours
- After calibration: recurring weekly assignments
Hiring Requirements
- Licensed/former attorneys, JDs/LLMs, or senior legal researchers/paralegals
- 3+ years relevant legal research/practice experience
- Strong skills in:
- Statutory interpretation
- Case-law research
- Legal citations
- Jurisdiction analysis
- Legal drafting
Screening & Assessment
Selection includes:
- Credential verification (degree, bar/license, 3+ years experience)
- Legal knowledge assessment (jurisdiction, authority hierarchy, citation/claim verification)
- Rubric exercise (evaluate an AI legal-research trajectory and define pass/fail criteria)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience relevant to Corporate Law, Securities Law, and/or Employment & Labor Law as specified above
