Remote · Peru · Mexico Freelance
$10 – $20/hr

Overview

This fully remote independent contractor role supports a U.S.-based law firm handling Minnesota workers' compensation cases and related injury matters. The organization is seeking a highly experienced paralegal or attorney to serve as a key support “right hand” to litigating attorneys—preparing cases for argument and making appearances on the attorney’s behalf as needed short of trial itself.

Employment type: Independent Contractor (contracting and payments managed through Deel)

Compensation: $10–$20 USD per hour (final terms to be confirmed)

Work arrangement: Fully remote, aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours

Location: Peru

Responsibilities

  • Prepare case files for litigating attorneys from start to finish, including legal research specific to Minnesota workers' compensation and injury law
  • Review medical records and cross-reference them against the client’s account of the injury to build a complete, accurate case picture
  • Ensure each case meets the proper medical-legal standards required for success in front of a judge or in settlement
  • Make appearances on behalf of the attorney as needed throughout the case lifecycle (short of trial itself)
  • Act under the direct supervision of, and in close coordination with, Attorney Mark Rodgers and Attorney Jim Perkett
  • Coordinate closely with litigating attorneys to ensure work product is ready for argument

Requirements

  • Significant, hands-on experience with Minnesota workers' compensation cases, or closely related injury and insurance litigation work
  • Not an entry-level role; candidates fresh out of school are not a fit
  • Ability to independently manage a full caseload, including:
    • Legal research
    • Medical record review
    • Case preparation
    • Appearances
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Based in Mexico, Central America, or South America, with availability aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant workers' compensation, injury, or insurance litigation experience that demonstrates deep familiarity with Minnesota practice and case preparation
  • Prior experience preparing fully developed case files for attorney argument and/or settlement

Compensation & Benefits

  • $10–$20 USD per hour (depending on qualifications and experience); final terms to be confirmed
  • Independent contractor engagement; contracting and payments managed through Deel

Location

  • Peru (fully remote)
  • Must be based in Mexico, Central America, or South America and available aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours

Important Notes

  • This is a legal support role, not a position to practice U.S. law independently; all work is performed under the supervision of the firm’s licensed attorneys
  • Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a written English and legal-support skills assessment
  • Applicants must submit a CV in English detailing:
    • Legal education
    • Bar admission or professional credentials (if applicable)
    • English proficiency
    • Relevant workers' compensation, injury, or insurance litigation experience
