Overview
An established U.S.-based law firm is seeking a highly experienced paralegal or attorney to support litigating attorneys on Minnesota workers’ compensation cases. This is a long-term, fully remote independent contractor role aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours.
This position is a legal support role. It is not an opportunity to practice U.S. law independently; all work is performed under the supervision of the firm’s licensed attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Prepare case files for litigating attorneys from start to finish, including legal research specific to Minnesota workers’ compensation and injury law
- Review medical records and cross-reference them against the client’s account of the injury to develop an accurate case picture
- Ensure each case meets the proper medical-legal standards required for success before a judge or in settlement
- Make appearances on behalf of the attorney as needed throughout the case lifecycle (short of appearing at trial)
- Serve as the right-hand support to litigating attorneys, operating essentially as counsel on a case short of trial participation
- Work under direct supervision and in close coordination with Attorney Mark Rodgers and Attorney Jim Perkett
Requirements
- Significant, hands-on experience with Minnesota workers’ compensation cases, or closely related injury and insurance litigation work
- Not entry-level; candidates fresh out of school are not a fit for this role
- Ability to independently manage a full caseload including legal research, medical record review, case preparation, and appearances
- Strong written and spoken English
- Based in Mexico, Central America, or South America, with availability aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional experience related to personal injury matters outside of workers’ compensation
Compensation & Benefits
- $10–$20 USD per hour, depending on qualifications and experience; final terms to be confirmed
- Contract Type: Independent Contractor
- Contracting and payments managed through Deel
Location & Work Arrangement
- Fully remote
- Location requirement: Argentina (work must be aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours)
Application Notes
- Submit your CV in English.
- Your CV should include your legal education, bar admission or professional credentials (if applicable), English proficiency, and relevant workers’ compensation, injury, or insurance litigation experience.
- Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a written English and legal-support skills assessment.
