Overview
The organization is seeking a highly experienced Advanced Paralegal or Attorney to support Minnesota workers' compensation litigation (work comp and related tort claims). This role will function as the right-hand support for litigating attorneys, preparing cases from start to finish and making appearances on their behalf as needed (short of appearing at trial).
This is a long-term, fully remote Independent Contractor engagement aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours.
Responsibilities
- Prepare case files for the litigating attorney from start to finish, including legal research specific to Minnesota workers' compensation and injury law
- Review medical records and cross-reference them against the client’s account of the injury to build an accurate case picture
- Ensure each case meets the proper medical-legal standards required to prevail in front of a judge or in settlement
- Make appearances on behalf of the attorney as needed throughout the case lifecycle
- Work under the direct supervision of, and in close coordination with, litigating attorneys
- Act essentially as an attorney would on a case, short of appearing at trial
Requirements
- Significant, hands-on experience with Minnesota workers' compensation cases or closely related injury and insurance litigation work; candidates fresh out of school are not a fit
- Ability to independently manage a full caseload, including legal research, medical record review, case preparation, and appearances
- Strong written and spoken English
- Based in Mexico, Central America, or South America, with availability aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing cases for hearing/settlement with strong medical-legal documentation
- Prior experience supporting attorneys closely in workers' compensation litigation and related injury/insurance matters
Compensation & Benefits
- $10–$20 USD per hour, depending on qualifications and experience (final terms to be confirmed)
- Contract type: Independent Contractor; contracting and payments managed through Deel
Location
- Dominican Republic
- Fully Remote, aligned to U.S. Central or Eastern business hours
Additional Information
- This is a legal support role, not a position to practice U.S. law independently. All work is performed under the supervision of the firm’s licensed attorneys.
- Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a written English and legal-support skills assessment.
- Candidates must submit a CV in English, detailing legal education, bar admission or professional credentials (if applicable), English proficiency, and relevant workers' compensation, injury, or insurance litigation experience.
