Overview

This role involves serving as the Assistant General Counsel and Director of the Global Partner Program, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel – Global Commercial Lead. The position leads legal support for a global partner ecosystem, including distribution, resale, and managed service providers. It requires close collaboration with partner business and operational teams to provide senior legal guidance across all partner routes to market.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior legal advisor and primary escalation point for worldwide channel partner programs.
  • Develop and execute strategy to scale legal support for the partner ecosystem, including creating playbooks, templates, and contracting processes to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to drive automation and efficiency in legal workflows, with preference for experience using AI tools.
  • Manage drafting, review, and negotiation of complex, high-visibility channel partner agreements.
  • Collaborate with partner business leaders and cross-functional teams (sales, finance, operations, compliance) to align legal strategy with business objectives.
  • Review and maintain program terms to ensure clarity, scalability, and enforceability (including program guides, participation agreements, and incentives).
  • Provide practical, risk-based guidance on partner ecosystem matters such as contract interpretation, disputes, and enforcement.
  • Work with the Commercial Legal Team and broader legal organization on cross-functional matters and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of legal practice experience, including significant support of a global channel partner ecosystem across multiple routes to market.
  • Proven experience building channel partner programs and legal infrastructure.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with clear communication of complex legal and commercial concepts.
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to identify and mitigate legal and business risks while supporting strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership presence and ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior business stakeholders.
  • Prior experience building or leading a partner legal team or similar legal group is a strong plus but not mandatory.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment with attention to detail.
  • Collaborative mindset with a track record of building strong cross-functional relationships internally and externally.
  • Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and willingness to address new and undefined issues.
  • A sense of humor is valued.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required and admission to at least one U.S. state bar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leveraging AI tools in legal workflows or process design.
  • Leadership experience in hiring, developing, and managing legal professionals.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: USD $180,000 – $245,000 per year.
  • Eligibility for participation in a corporate bonus program.
  • Compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, education, skill level, and other factors.
