Overview
This role is for a highly experienced attorney specializing in energy-related SaaS products and transactions. The position involves independent work with major matter, team, or client responsibilities, including mentoring other attorneys on specific projects. The attorney will frequently supervise professional teams handling significant legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and implement complex energy-related data services transactions.
- Provide expert legal services primarily related to SaaS and other data services transactions, as well as product development and support.
- Draft and negotiate various agreements including master services agreements, SaaS agreements, and data processing agreements (DPAs).
- Plan, conduct, and supervise large and complex energy-related data services transactions with minimal supervision, assessing legal and business risks and advising clients accordingly.
- Provide legal counsel to all levels of management, including senior management.
- Lead and provide direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff.
- Prepare and revise budgets and early matter assessments for engagements involving outside counsel.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in relevant jurisdictions.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of professional legal experience in a specialized area.
- Comprehensive knowledge of legal principles, practices, and procedures applicable to complex assignments.
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
- Ongoing knowledge of federal and/or state law.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 4 years of experience handling SaaS agreements, master services agreements, and data processing agreements.
- Experience collaborating with business teams to structure complex data services transactions appropriately.
Compensation & Benefits
- Expected salary range: $219,600 to $244,000, depending on experience.
