Overview

A San Francisco-based litigation firm is seeking a top-level associate to join its sophisticated litigation practice, with a focus on employment law. The role offers valuable trial experience within a top-ranked trial firm. Candidates should have 5-10 years of employment litigation experience, excellent academic credentials, and strong analytical skills. Associates collaborate closely with partners and clients and play a key role on the team.

This position involves handling a variety of cases in courts and tribunals across the United States, primarily in California. While local candidates are preferred, remote work may be considered for exceptional candidates. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in California.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of litigation from case inception through trials and appeals
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda
  • Prepare complex case evaluations, briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct, propound, and respond to discovery, including document requests, written discovery, and depositions
  • Work with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel
  • Represent clients in state and federal courts and before government agencies
  • Prepare and argue motions, including motions for summary judgment or adjudication
  • Prepare for and defend lay and expert witness depositions
  • Manage case development and investigation, providing regular reports to supervising partners and clients

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of employment litigation experience preferred
  • Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing
  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills with the ability to translate research into effective written work product
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues, clients, adversaries, and courts
  • Demonstrated dedication, goal orientation, and strong work ethic
  • Commitment to client service and teamwork
  • Proficiency with e-discovery, data/document management applications, and related technologies
  • Previous law firm experience preferred
  • Distinguished academic credentials preferred
  • Must submit a law school transcript and writing sample with the application
