Overview

A consumer protection law firm specializing in representing clients who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney. The firm is based in the Financial District of New York City but this position is for an attorney located in or around Columbus, Ohio. This role offers exposure to a variety of legal issues related to consumer protection, including transactional and civil litigation matters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Ohio
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding their legal matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements
  • Negotiate and communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims
  • Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues
  • Attend court appearances as required (travel from home-based location)
  • Coordinate with the main office via telephone and electronic communication tools

Requirements

  • Admission to practice law in Ohio is mandatory
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with senior management and colleagues
  • Proficient legal research skills; experience with LexisNexis is a plus
  • Must be currently located in or near Columbus, Ohio to be considered
