Overview

A consumer protection law firm specializing in representing clients who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney. The firm is based in the Financial District of New York City but this position focuses on legal matters in New Jersey. This role offers exposure to a variety of legal issues related to consumer protection, including transactional and civil litigation matters.

Compensation: $90,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in New Jersey
  • Communicate with clients regarding their legal matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements
  • Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims
  • Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues
  • Travel may be required for court appearances despite the remote nature of the role
  • Coordinate with the main office via telephone and electronic communication (e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc.)

Requirements

  • Admission to practice law in New Jersey is mandatory
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with senior management and colleagues at all levels
  • Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus
