Overview
This role involves serving as an Associate Division Counsel supporting Surgical Technologies business units within a global Instruments division. The position requires providing trusted legal advice and corporate generalist support in a highly regulated medical device and healthcare technology environment. The legal advisor will work closely with senior business leaders, cross-functional teams, and external counsel to manage a broad range of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on multiple issues affecting the Surgical Technologies business unit, making decisions with material business impact.
- Independently draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts including Sales, Services, Software Subscription, Repair, Product Development, Supply, and Non-Disclosure agreements.
- Partner with Compliance to advise on issues related to healthcare professional interactions, AdvaMed Code of Ethics, indirect channels, investigations, ethics and code of conduct violations, company policy infractions, US anti-kickback law, FCPA, and other anti-corruption laws.
- Follow and implement internal legal processes.
- Assist in managing dispute resolution and litigation.
- Provide legal advice in business development contexts.
- Advise the business unit on applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with various functional areas including regulatory, finance, human resources, operations, supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, sales, and marketing across multiple geographies.
- Work with other Legal Centers of Expertise to support the business effectively.
- Communicate and collaborate with colleagues, management, and outside counsel as needed.
- Address additional legal support requests as appropriate.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional legal experience.
- At least 10 years advising on contracts, regulatory compliance, risk management, and commercial transactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the medical industry.
- Demonstrated experience advising on or ensuring compliance with the AdvaMed Code of Ethics and federal and state anti-kickback laws.
- Prior leadership team experience is strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $149,300 - $329,000 plus eligibility for bonus.
- Compensation is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
