Overview

The organization is seeking a Labor & Employment (L&E) attorney to provide legal advice and representation to a non-profit healthcare system. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) on first shift, Monday through Friday, and is remote.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to enterprise entities.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, business partners, legal teammates, outside counsel, and outside vendors to complete a wide variety of assignments.
  • Communicate effectively with legal teammates, business partners, courts, and government agencies.
  • Manage and delegate projects to outside counsel, including identifying and articulating needed work for matters such as EEOC charges, lawsuits, government agency investigations, and general employment matters.
  • Manage legal matters including complex litigation, transactions, litigation holds, investigations, due diligence, discovery, and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • In partnership with outside counsel, conduct witness interviews and prepare witnesses for depositions, government agency interviews, and trial.
  • Attend and/or provide support in mediations and depositions.
  • Negotiate legal documents such as contracts, employment agreements, settlement agreements, severance agreements, discovery responses, pleadings, position statements, responses to requests for information, responses to agency complaints, correspondence, memoranda, policies, and other legal documents.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing, training, mentoring, and development for self and other members of the Legal Department.

Requirements

  • Attorney must be licensed and registered as required by applicable law.
  • Doctorate Degree in Law from an accredited law school.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of experience providing legal services within a law firm or as in-house legal counsel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience counseling multi-state employers.
  • Ability to advise on complex employment matters and effectively interact with senior executives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with analytical and critical thinking abilities; proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with federal and applicable state employment laws and related agencies.

  • Pay range: $86.75 - $138.80 (base compensation within the listed pay range based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training)

  • Remote position.
  • Requires travel, with exposure to weather and road conditions.
