Overview
An organization is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Regulatory to join their Legal Team. This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage regulatory and privacy legal matters, including government litigation and regulatory inquiries. The position requires handling a broad spectrum of regulatory issues across various jurisdictions and emerging product areas.
Responsibilities
- Engage proactively and reactively with regulatory and law enforcement entities worldwide.
- Represent the organization before regulators and in government litigation.
- Develop and implement internal and external policies related to regulatory compliance.
- Provide legal counsel on regulatory, privacy, and related matters.
- Collaborate internally to develop strategies that align business goals with existing and future regulatory frameworks.
- Address novel and complex legal issues related to new products and jurisdictions.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.B. degree with a license to practice law in the United States and/or Canada.
- Significant legal experience in government, in-house, and/or law firm settings.
- Experience counseling clients on legal and regulatory risks.
- Experience interacting with government regulatory agencies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional business judgment and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to think creatively and provide strategic legal counsel.
- Interest and aptitude for researching novel and ambiguous legal areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with regulatory matters related to platform regulation, including familiarity with statutes such as the Digital Services Act, Digital Markets Act, FTC Act, US INFORM Consumers Act, and UDAP/consumer protection laws.
- Knowledge of AI, privacy, and cybersecurity laws applicable to internet platforms.
