Overview

An organization is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join their team remotely. This role offers the opportunity to shape the legal function within a fast-paced GovTech SaaS environment. The position involves working closely with business and technical leaders to address a wide range of legal challenges, including commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The successful candidate will have autonomy and a broad scope of responsibilities that will enhance their legal expertise and significantly impact company operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial contracting function by drafting and negotiating various agreements.
  • Provide practical legal guidance on regulatory and contractual risks, balancing risk management with business goals.
  • Own and improve core contract templates and playbooks to ensure consistent negotiation practices.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance contract lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Assist with dispute resolution and pre-litigation strategies, including managing issues and coordinating with external counsel.
  • Support corporate governance and entity management in partnership with the General Counsel.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 4-7 years of post-JD experience, with significant in-house legal experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain legal concepts to diverse audiences.
  • High level of integrity and discretion, with demonstrated ability to build trust.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating technology-focused commercial agreements.
  • Familiarity with data protection and privacy issues in contracts.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $155,000–$200,000 per year.
