Overview
An organization in the Real Estate & Construction sector is seeking an Associate General Counsel - Strategic Development. This role focuses on providing business-aligned legal guidance related to governance, compliance, and operational risk management. The position involves partnering with leadership, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex legal issues into practical recommendations that support responsible execution, improved decision-making, and sustainable growth.
Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $147,636 – $240,900 annually
Responsibilities
- Provide legal analysis and support for commercial agreements with an emphasis on compliance and risk mitigation
- Support strategic corporate and customer initiatives through legal counsel
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address evolving business needs and foster partnerships
- Review marketing and media content for legal compliance, including advertising claims and licensing
- Manage the global trademark portfolio, including registration and enforcement of brands
- Work with Engineering and Product teams on intellectual property rights and manage outside counsel as needed
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal regulations and provide advice that aligns legal strategies with business goals
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. state
- Minimum of ten years of legal practice experience in a law firm or corporate environment
- Expertise in contract drafting and negotiation, including familiarity with the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and international sales agreements
- Collaborative and proactive approach, capable of working independently and with a global team
- Strong influencing skills to guide senior partners with sound business judgment
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to resolve legal issues efficiently
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience with contract management systems such as iCertis
- Knowledge of the U.N. Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods
- Familiarity with intellectual property laws and compliance regulations
- Proficiency in legal research tools and databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw)
