Overview
An organization in the healthcare sector is seeking an Associate General Counsel to provide business-aligned legal guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. This role involves partnering with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex legal issues into practical recommendations that support responsible execution, improve decision-making, and foster sustainable growth within a healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor for multiple business units, ensuring alignment of legal counsel with business objectives
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including SaaS and vendor contracts
- Provide legal guidance on data governance, privacy, and real-world data initiatives
- Advise on intellectual property matters and collaborate with relevant stakeholders
- Identify and assess legal risks, translating them into actionable business recommendations
- Contribute to the improvement of legal processes and templates to enhance efficiency
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree required
- 7-10+ years of legal experience, preferably in-house
- Experience working across various functions within highly regulated environments, particularly in SaaS and healthcare technology
- Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Deep understanding of data licensing, procurement, and intellectual property law
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

- Experience with healthcare data and technology agreements
- Knowledge of AI/ML technologies and privacy regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with open-source software considerations and data governance frameworks
- Experience with compliance technologies and cybersecurity legal requirements

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary range: $130,000 – $180,000
