Overview
A legal team specializing in workers' compensation is seeking an Attorney (Attorney III or Attorney underfill) to join their Oxnard office. This role involves defending California’s insured employers and state agencies in workers’ compensation cases. Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings and conduct discovery
- Negotiate and draft settlements
- Appear confidently in court, including trials
- Analyze orthopedic and medical reports to support case development
Requirements
- Licensed Attorney III or newly admitted Attorney with a passion for litigation
- No prior workers’ compensation experience required for Attorney level
- Must reside in California upon appointment
- Willingness to appear at Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) district offices in Oxnard, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and occasionally other locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates located within Ventura County or nearby counties preferred to facilitate local in-person hearings
Compensation & Benefits
- Flexibility for remote work
- Reimbursement for local travel within allowable mileage radius
- Expenses for required in-person onboarding attendance will be covered
Location
- Position based in Oxnard, with appearances at WCAB offices in Oxnard, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo
- Position can also be filled in Los Angeles, Ventura, or Kern County
