Overview
An established intellectual property law firm with over 30 years of experience is seeking a Patent Prosecution Attorney to join their team in a remote capacity based in Texas. This role involves managing patent prosecution, developing patent portfolios, handling USPTO filings, and interacting with patent examiners. The position supports a sophisticated client base across technology-driven industries.
Responsibilities
- Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications across various technologies
- Conduct examiner interviews and respond to office actions
- Advise clients on patentability, patent strategy, and portfolio development
- Collaborate with attorneys and technical specialists on complex intellectual property matters
- Manage multiple matters efficiently while maintaining high-quality work product
- Stay current on USPTO rules and evolving patent law
Requirements
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and eligibility for Texas admission
- Minimum of 3 years of patent prosecution experience at a reputable law firm or IP boutique
- Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, software, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to clients and patent examiners
- Strong academic credentials and attention to detail
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa
