Overview
This organization is seeking a Personal Injury Attorney to manage a caseload from intake through demand, litigation, and resolution. The attorney will serve as the primary lawyer on each file—handling client communication, developing liability and damages, negotiating with insurance carriers, and representing clients in court when cases do not settle.
Responsibilities
- Own a caseload of pre-litigation and litigation matters and keep clients current on status, treatment, and next steps.
- Investigate liability, preserve evidence, develop medical damages and wage loss, and help build a demand the carrier has to respond to.
- Negotiate with adjusters and defense counsel; assess when a settlement number is realistic and when filing is appropriate.
- Draft and argue pleadings, discovery, disclosures, motions in limine, and motions for summary judgment.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Prepare clients and experts for mediation and trial.
- Try cases (first-chair support and second-chair trial work expected; first-chair opportunity increases with experience).
- Supervise paralegals and case managers to ensure records, calendaring, client updates, and settlement paperwork move without delay.
- Comply with ethical rules, advertising limits, and firm policy for confidential client information.
Requirements
- Active license to practice in Colorado.
- 2+ years of personal injury experience (plaintiff-side preferred). Strong defense-side candidates with real deposition and motion practice will be considered.
- Comfort with disclosures and discovery, statute of limitations issues, and insurance coverage.
- Clear written and spoken English.
- Spanish is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to move cases forward and maintain client communication.
- Trial exposure preferred (including second chair). Willingness to try cases is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in adding admissions in Arizona, California, New Mexico, or Florida (a plus).
- Experience or readiness to expand licensing if opportunities arise for attorneys holding licenses outside of these states.
