Overview

This personal injury attorney role involves running a caseload from intake through demand, litigation, and resolution. Responsibilities include client communication, liability and damages development, negotiations with insurance carriers, and courtroom work when cases do not settle. Strong standards for clear communication, organized case files, and measurable results are required.

Responsibilities

  • Own a caseload of pre-litigation and litigation files and keep each client current on status, treatment, and next steps.
  • Investigate liability, preserve evidence, work up medical damages and wage loss, and help build a demand the carrier is required to respond to.
  • Negotiate with adjusters and defense counsel, including evaluating when a realistic value is achievable and when filing is necessary.
  • Draft and argue pleadings, discovery, disclosures, motions in limine, and motions for summary judgment.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Prepare clients and experts for mediation and trial.
  • Try cases; first-chair support and second-chair trial work are expected. First-chair opportunity increases with experience.
  • Supervise paralegals and case managers to ensure nothing is missed (records, calendaring, client updates, or settlement paperwork).
  • Maintain compliance with ethical rules, advertising limits, and firm policy on confidential client information.

Requirements

  • Active license to practice in Colorado.
  • 2+ years of personal injury experience (plaintiff-side preferred). Strong defense-side candidates with real deposition and motion practice will be considered.
  • Comfort with disclosure and discovery, statute of limitations issues, and insurance coverage.
  • Clear written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrated ability to move files forward (client communication is a key job element).
  • Willingness to try cases; trial exposure (even second chair) is preferred.
