Overview

A law firm specializing in default and creditors’ rights is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney licensed in Virginia to manage a substantive caseload and develop expertise in bankruptcy law. This role involves handling high-volume bankruptcy matters with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a statewide bankruptcy caseload from start to finish, ensuring efficient progress
  • Prepare and file motions, pleadings, Proofs of Claim, Payment Change Notices, and other essential documents
  • Conduct Chapter 13 Plan Reviews and draft objections to plans when necessary
  • Attend court hearings, both virtual and in-person
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the firm, clients, courts, trustees, and outside counsel for assigned cases
  • Handle time-sensitive escalations and maintain accurate client system updates

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active Virginia Bar membership in good standing
  • Preferred: Three or more years of bankruptcy experience, including exposure to Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13, and plan confirmation; however, candidates with the right aptitude and work ethic will be considered and trained
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal issues clearly to diverse audiences
  • Ability to travel as needed for court hearings and appearances
  • Commitment to ethical standards and client confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in real estate, mortgage, or commercial litigation
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, or TILA
  • Background in foreclosure law (training available if not experienced)

  • Salary commensurate with experience
