Overview

A law firm with over 125 years of combined legal experience and more than 250 trials won is seeking a Civil Litigation Paralegal to support its civil litigation department. This role involves comprehensive case management and support to enable attorneys to focus on strategy and client interaction. The position is remote with a flexible schedule requiring overlap during California (PST) business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Manage civil litigation cases from filing through closure efficiently.
  • Independently draft, prepare, and summarize discovery documents ensuring legal compliance.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, deposition notices, and subpoenas with accuracy.
  • Track and own all court-related deadlines, ensuring timely filing and service of documents.
  • Utilize legal software including Clio and AI tools such as EVE to enhance drafting and workflow.
  • Prepare medical summaries and organize supporting documentation for case development.
  • Coordinate service of documents and filing workflows to ensure compliance.
  • Follow up with attorneys to ensure timely notes and deadlines are met, maintaining case progress after court appearances.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a civil litigation paralegal, with strong discovery and document preparation skills.
  • Preferred experience with California state courts; federal court experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency and comfort with AI tools and legal software such as Clio; willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage complex deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
