Claims Consultant - Attorney Protective

Overview

This role manages healthcare liability claims and related litigation for policyholders. Responsibilities include confirming coverage, handling coverage issues, appointing and managing counsel, overseeing litigation costs and reserves, and working to resolve matters through negotiation, dismissal, or trial.

Responsibilities

• Confirm coverage and then manage claims and suits brought against policyholders.
• Interpret, analyze, and resolve coverage issues.
• Appoint legal counsel.
• Manage litigation with outside counsel.
• Manage litigation costs.
• Maintain appropriate reserves.
• Resolve cases via settlement negotiations, dismissal, or trial.
• Provide service to underwriters and assist where possible in sales and retention efforts of the sales force.
• Perform other activities required of a front line claims professional.

Requirements

• J.D. (preferred) but may consider a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of claim experience with lawyer’s professional liability (LPL) claims.
• Familiarity with personal injury/bodily injury, trusts and estates, and real estate claims.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organization and time management.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual gross base salary range: $80,000 to $150,000
  • This range anticipates the low and high end of the salary for this position. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and competencies.
